I know, its been suuuper long since my last post. I shall make no excuses, it was completely a fault on my end. Time management is not my forte, but I promise, I’ll try harder.
Coming to today’s review. I was doing my makeup the other day, admiring my natural makeup looking super natural. Feeling all proud how good I have gotten at my makeup, I had a moment of realisation. Sometimes, it’s not the right techniques, but the right products that help you achieve amazing results. And my obsession with this concealer lately, has been the main reason for my amazing makeup days.
Price: $27 for 10ml
What company says:
WHAT IT IS
A best-selling, full-coverage, vegan, blendable concealer that instantly brightens, smooths & shapes skin.
WHAT IT DOES
Provides a flawless matte finish that won’t flake or crease, even if you have dry skin, fine lines, or pore problems – no setting powder necessary. Mango seed & shea butters naturally regenerate & illuminate all complexions, letting you play with light to lift your features.
What I think:
Tarte shape tape has now taken the place of a cult product in the beauty community, and for good reason. This concealer is what dreams are made of. The coverage is insane, much more than my MAC prolongwear, Kryolan Derma Color, or any other concealer I have ever used.
The formula is semi thick, somewhere between MAC prolongwear and Kryolan concealer. I keep comparing it to these 2 concealers, because before shape tape, I was obsessed with the other two. Don’t get me wrong, I still love them, but Tarte is the new “it” concealer for me.
It spreads super easy, blends like a dream and sets perfectly. I can easily go without setting the concealer, and I won’t see it sliding through the day. The only thing I wish was different is that shape tape sets to a matte, somewhat dry finish. If you have a dry undereye skin, like me, you may notice it kind of exaggerates that. To avoid that, I make sure to use a good under eye cream before, and let it sink for a while, and also, I don’t take a lot of concealer. I only take as much is required, and try not to take it too close to my lower lash line.
I always use my beauty blender to blend the concealer. Also, what surprises me the most is, it won’t crease under my eyes, AT ALL. I don’t know how they managed to do that, but all concealers crease on me. This one is budge proof!
I love the doe foot applicator. Its huge, you can see in one of the photos, were it is placed next to Maybelline Fit me concealer wand. The huge wand applies product under my both eyes, without dipping twice. I love that.
It is also great for spot concealing. I have never seen it fade away by the end of the day. In fact, it looks so natural, I almost always forget I am wearing it on my face, until I take my makeup off. It gives the illusion of flawless skin, without looking cakey.
That being said, I would emphasize on using minimal quantity, a little goes along way, really!
I have it in two colours, Tan Sand is more natural to my skin tone (I am a MAC NC42), perfect for spot concealing. Medium is a little brightening, mostly for my under eyes and center of the face.
Now coming to the major issue. It’s not available in India. I knowwww! It pisses me off too 🙁
I got mine from an instagram store, and paid around Rs. 2400 for each tube. But I was so hooked, I picked up backups in my last trip to US. Its exclusive to Ulta, or you can buy it online from Tarte’s website. If you have anyone traveling abroad anytime, make sure you know what favour you need to ask for 😉
