Desert Splendour Jojoba Oil – Review

Hey people, how are doing today? Hope all is well with half the country facing the sun’s fury. We will live through it, I promise.

This year, I had started to take more care of my skin and made sure that I will give my skin the love it deserves. It all started with improving my diets and also my skincare regime.

Finding a skincare regime has always been a problem for me. I have super dry skin, which is super sensitive too. I am allergic to almost everything at first, and even 5 mins in sun gives me rashes. Yeah, that’s my life.

Given how dry my skin is, only a moisturizer has never worked for me. Few months back, I incorporated a skin serum in my regime before applying moisturizer. It made things better, but still my skin would be dry again in 4-5 hours. I cannot be replying moisturizer through the day. It makes things even worse with makeup on top. My foundation would start to look flaky and patchy within no time, because my skin beneath absorbs everything I layer on it.

After having enough, I finally got into skin oils. And by oil, I don’t only mean essential oils, I mean the massaging kinds oils too.

I started with the Body shop Oils of life oil (reviewed here) which I am still obsessed with by the way. Then I moved to another product, Jojoba oil.

I have been hearing how good jojoba oil is for skin and hair, from a very long time. So I thought, why not.

After a good research, I finally found the kind of product I was looking for. The desert splendour Jojoba oil. They claim to be 100% pure, and they also supply the oil to bigger companies, that is further used in other skincare in cosmetic products. So, I thought, what could be better than using the pure form in itself. You can buy it from their website,, they deliver all over India.

I ordered the oil, it reached me in 5 days. And let me start by saying, I am obsessed.

Price: Rs. 800 for 200ml

With that impressive list, let me say, I am not disappointed with this product, no matter which way I used it.

Product & Texture: It comes in plastic bottle with a flip open top, which is placed in a hardboard box. The bottle is see through, which is great. The bottle closes tight enough to allow you to travel with it. Its not very fancy, but is functional enough. The oil is not very sticky, it is quite light weight on skin, but it does need a little massaging to be absorbed. It does not have any strong smell, which is great for people with sensitive noses. I am using this for a month now, and I can already see the results.

Also, jojoba oil is suited for oily skins too. So If you are having trouble finding the perfect moisturizer for your oily skin, try this instead. May be you can mix in some tea tree oil with it. Though, I would recommend using a smaller quantity at first and trying for a few days.

How I use it:

Mixed with Orange essential oil, apply to cleansed and toned skin

I love love love jojoba oil as a moisturizer. It keeps my skin hydrated through the entire day, and best part? It doesn’t feel heavy at all. No stickiness on my face. I have seen my skin has started to glow with time and I cannot complain. The oil does take a little time to get absorbed, so I massage it for a good minute. That helps to make your skin even more healthier, a little TLC is never harmful after all. I mostly use it both night time and daytime, before applying my moisturizer. For day, I apply this mix and then apply my sunscreen, and I am good to go. For night time, I apply this, and follow with my night cream. I feel  I wake up to a more plump skin, and it has also helped in reducing the fine lines that were forming around my mouth area.

Mixed with Tea tree oil, on days I am breaking out.

Yes, I use this oil even when I am breaking out. I just replace orange oil with Tea tree oil. This does not aggravate my acne at all, in fact, I have seen that using this helps me get rid of the acne mark faster than usual.

Mixed with Almond oil, apply to clean dry hair

I love oiling my hair, I do it once every week. I have been using almond oil for my hair since ages, and works great for me. Now, I have started to mix a third of jojoba oil in it too. I massage it well on my scalp, leave it overnight, and wash it the next day. I have noticed, it makes my hair shinier. I have also noticed a reduction in my hair fall. Nothing else has changed in my haircare routine, so I think I owe these changes to the addition of jojoba oil.

Mixed with castor sugar, as a lip scrub

I used to mix Vaseline with sugar to scrub my lips earlier, now I have switched Vaseline with Jojoba oil. I like how it hydrates my lips.

Massage my face

somedays, I just pour in a good amount of oil on my palms, and massage it for a while. I usually do this once in 2 weeks, after scrubbing and steaming my skin. This is kind of my mini pamper session, I especially like to do it a night before any special occasion.

I cannot rave enough about this oil, and I also find it way cheaper than the other facial oils available in the market. Plus, with 200ml bottle, this is going to last me a very long time.

Summing up Pros and Cons.
