The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream – Review

Hey Guys,

I have been recently asked a lot about my skin care routine, so I thought I will start with individually reviewing all my skin care products, and then make a post of how I use them all. I am starting with my night cream.

What Company SaysA night time cream, to moisturise, revitalise and nourish the skin whilst you sleep.

– Skin looks and feels:
– Revitalised
– More supple
– Nourished
– Visibly Rested
– Reduced appearance of ageing

Price: Rs. 2495 for 80 ml

What I think: The oils of life range has products  enriched with 3 nutritive oils – black cumin seed oil, rosehip seed oil and camellia oil. I have very dry skin, so I love using oils on my skin. When they came out with this range, it was instant love. I have been using their facial oil (review here) for quite sometime now, and I think I might buy it again. I love the consistency of this cream, its this soft, cushion-y gel cream. It feels very light and hydrating. Once you apply it on your skin, you need to massage it for 10-15 seconds to get it fully absorbed. The first time I used it, I didn’t find it hydrating enough for my very dry skin, but with the oil mixed in, it is perfect for me. In my opinion, the cream will work wonders for people with oily skin, as it is not very heavy or greasy on the skin. Infact, I sometimes use it as my day cream too, because it really plumps up my skin, and gives that healthy look to it.

Overtime, I have noticed that my skin is looking way more hydrated and smooth. It does have anti ageing benefits too, but I don’t have wrinkles (yet), so I cannot comment on that. I have also noticed how it makes my skin tad brighter too. However, if you are looking for an intense night cream, I am not sure this alone would work. I always use a oil or serum before using this on my skin during winters, but during summers, it alone works good too.

It comes in a glass tub, with a black plastic cap. The packaging looks very elegant, but is not travel friendly. I use a spatula to scoop out the product, I never like tub packagings what so ever. The price is a little on the higher side, but you do get 80ml of product. My usual night/day creams have 50ml of product for almost the same price. It does have a nutty sort of smell, but it is not over powering at all. The body shop products are never artificially fragranced, so that is always a plus point.

If you are looking for a moderately hydrating, brightening night cream, that doesn’t make your skin greasy, I would say this is a nice pick.

Summing up Pros and Cons:

You’ll heart it coz:

  • Its very soft and gentle on the skin
  • Suits my sensitive skin
  • Brightens my skintone over time
  • Has anti ageing benefits
  • Impressive ingredients
  • Great for oily skin
  • Non greasy, non sticky formula

You might hate it coz:

  • Glass tub packaging, not travel friendly
  • Not great for very dry skin people, if used alone

Overall, its not a die for night cream for my dry skin, but it is a great one for oily to normal skin. If you want to start your anti ageing regime, but want to avoid heavy creams, this might be a great one to go with.
