Anastasia Beverly Hills “Norvina” Eyeshadow Palette – Review and Swatches

Hello lovelies,

Today’s review is on the very hyped and very talked about eyeshadow palette from the house of Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH).

Norvina is the daughter of Anastasia (founder of ABH) and is currently the president of the brand. ABH has collaborated with many influencers in the past to create palettes, and they have all had their success stories. Modern Renaissance palette was one of the most raved about palettes in the makeup industry.

I, personally have never owned eyeshadows from ABH, simply because, they are not available in India. You can order them through Beauty Bay or some Instagram sellers, but I just never got around buying one. I guess any of the past palettes didn’t interest me as much.

When the brand came out with Norvina palette, I was so drawn to it. With so many other brands focussing on warm browns and yellows and reds, I found a purple pink theme palette such a breath of fresh air. I was instantly in love, and placed an order as soon as I could. A little spoiler, I am obsessed with this palette. Read on for a more details.

What I have to say:

I am dying here thinking why I never tried eyeshadows from ABH before. This eyeshadow palette has me dancing over the moon. It’s one of the most unique colour schemed palettes I have in my collection. The colours are of so many variants, yet so cohesive.

The palette contains 14 eyeshadows. The top layer is of 7 shimmery/foiled eyeshadows and the bottom row is 7 matte/satin eyeshadows. The descriptions of the colours are perfectly provided by the company. The packaging is sleek and sturdy. The top is layered with velvet kind of felt material, in lavender colour, working with the theme.

I love the packaging, but it is something so difficult to keep clean. I have almost an OCD to keep things clean and new looking, and this packaging really gives me a hard time. But I still am obsessed with it.

The palette also comes with a dual ended brush, with a flat brush and a crease brush on either sides. Its scratchy but usable. Much better than the worthless sponge applicators.

The foiled eyeshadows in the palette almost feel wet on touch. If you press a little, you can see it squishing like a cream eyeshadow would. The pigmentation is beyond real, and they literally blend themselves. One thing I would say is, the more glittery/foiled eyeshadows are best applied with fingers.

I tried using all sorts of brushes, flat or otherwise, damp and dry, but I was not able to get the kind of intensity you can see in the pan. I personally don’t mind using my fingers, but if you have big nails, you might find it a little difficult.

The shade Rose Gold, Celestial and Dazzling have me fall in love. I can wear them alone on my lids and be done. Pair with any lipstick, nude or bold, its the easiest glam look to pull off. These eyeshadows are very glittery, hence they do have a good amount if glitter fallout, I recommend doing the eye makeup before you do your face makeup.

Coming to the mattes. The shades Base, Soul and Love appear to have a little sheen to them when you look at them in the pan, but when used with a brush, they look completely matte on the lids. The blendability is beyond any other eyeshadows I own. Its like those formula that make you feel like its worth the money. They work gorgeously on my medium skin tone. They layer beautifully, without any patchiness, and without much fallout.

The eyeshadows last on my eyelids for 5-6 hours easily, without a primer.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, I am in love with this palette. If you want to pick one thing from ABH, I would highly recommend giving this eyeshadow palette a try. I got mine from Beauty Bay website.

I did post a look using the palette on my Instagram and here on the blog.
